I will overwhelm 'serious fighter' Paul - Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight round match which will be streamed in real-time on the streaming platform.
British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the combatants came face-to-face to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.
Ex two-time unified heavyweight champion Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.
Fighter's Mindset
"I'm going to break his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I will seriously aim to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."
Civil Interaction
Despite those words, a relaxed Joshua and internet personality Paul - normally known for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and kept it respectful with each other.
Paul instead attacked former Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "ridiculous" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.
Taking Aim at Fury
Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK rival Fury - and refused a million-pound wager 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a victory for Paul.
"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua stated.
"I acknowledge that."
Legitimate Opponent
In spite of saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua chose not to talk badly about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake is a credible opponent," he said.
Jake Paul's Background
Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed MMA fighters or faded names since becoming pro.
He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in last year.
Financial Attraction
Still, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's biggest money-making draws, consistently making massive financial rewards.
Forecast and Belief
The 28-year-old predicted a knockout win in round four or five and stated he would derail the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.
"It's going to be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul stated.
Size Disparity
As both boxers participated in the traditional confrontation, with their physical disparity on show, it emphasized just how improbable this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is actually going ahead.
